I take up work shepherding the flock of a farming family of which Christmas Cake and SMG are the oldest and youngest sister of. That was apparently the job of the old man that used to live in the cabin, before his disappearance, also an outsider like myself. The items that he evidently left behind make that job much easier.
On one of my many sheep herding treks I found many wonderful places, Chief amongst them a grove of ancient trees inhabbited by faires. Here I found a good friend in the form of a fairy that had seemed to be ostracised by the rest of her people due to her, relatively, gigantic proportions (2 feet tall).
After settling in to village life, with the help of the eldest farming daughter and a well respected man of the town, I began to become aware of the unsettling nature of this otherwise picturesque existence.
Twice a month I was to stay indoors, watched over by the farming sister to make sure I stayed put, while the rest of the village conducted some kind of festival. My friends would refuse to talk of it, often brushing it off as nothing or just playing dumb, but the town guard seemed to make it their responsibility to make my life harder whenever I tried to look into it.
This isn't even to mention that whenever I stray too far while herding the flock I begin to feel the presence of something watching me through the trees. The Fairy that I befriended, who has made it a point to accompany me on these treks, has whispered to me that it is the Old God of the Woods. She insists that he wont hurt me but is unnerved by the interest he seems to have taken in me. She hopes that he has just become lonely since the villagers turned their back on him.
The wonders here are endless and this life is as close to perfect as I could hope for but I'm afraid that these events, possibly related, may escalate and consume this pleasant dream.
