Unless you're doing some crazy lategame shit where you're fighting high-CR monsters, there won't be much magic resistance to go around anyway unless it's a very specific game where you're up against things like Elementals or Dragons all the time.>>64673719
I don't see it at all unless, as I mentioned, a very very specific rare scenario shows up. Very few things have weaknesses and resistances to magic damage, and as mentioned previously Force is probably the least-resisted, with Psychic being a close second. Again we're talking mainly stuff like Fire to Lightning or something, we're not talking about making every spell in the game do Force damage, I'm hard-pressed to think of a type of caster that does reliable force damage as a thematic component to their class/subclass, but the Draconic Sorcerers kind of get fucked in the ass in terms of spells, especially the Silver and White ones because Cold damage, specifically Cold damage that involves Ice, is super rare. If you don't like the idea of Magic Missile getting damage changes, limit what types of spells they could refluff the damage of, such as disallowing the use of Psychic and Force as options but allowing the other damage types to be swapped out as long as it fits their character. We're not looking at this for retarded powergaming nonsense, it's for the purpose of fulfilling a character concept, and someone who wants to play a white dragon sorcerer and use exclusively COld-damage spells is kind of fucked, same with some of the others like Acid or Poison. >>64673754
Exactly, it would have to be thematic, that's what I'm arguing for here, though again like I said before it's extremely rare to run into any enemies with magical resistance outside of Undead, ELementals, and Dragons but two of those three are rare and the last one only really resists necrotic if I recall.
