>>59011508>>59011580>>59011619>Fabius Bile, after a while of experimenting on both captured and volunteer chaos marines and worshippers, has, after many fatal failures, finally produced an elixir and ritual that elevates the recipient to a tier of power not achievable by the followers of chaos, asides from daemonhood.>This ritual and elixir transforms the host using both arcane technology and warp energy into a stronger and more colossal version of themselves. Some experience daemonic mutations akin to Obliterators and Possessed, while others mostly maintain their mortal form, but they are obviously changed, standing heads taller over their comrades and rippling with muscles.
Basically, there'd be three types: Ascended Chaos Marines, which are basically just Primaris Chaos, but with unique powers according to what god they adhere to(The Big Four or Unaligned, they'd be essentially low-powered psykers with one power from their god and the usual Smite. The more Ascended there are in a squad, the more powerful the spell, maybe?). Maybe some kick ass new weapons, like a flamer that debuffs morale called... a Scream Thrower, or a Warp Shriek Cannon or something. Then, there's Ascended Cultists. You could have them be bigger and badder cultists(geared towards close combat or special weapons? Cheaper than marines, but more expensive then regular cultists). These guys and gals have been granted minor power by the ritual as a gift from their masters and are eager to please(plenty of kitbashing/proxy opportunities here, you can finally find a fluffy way to have Chaos SoBs!).
And asides from all the HQ choices getting an Ascended counter part, there's also Super Possessed(name pending), that are basically Possessed marines if they were terminators that are as fast as raptors, but had a likely chance of killing themselves since they are held together by nothing but warp dust and dreams. Aka, chance to lose a wound every turn if you roll poorly
