Rate my Guard levels that I'll NEVER get to use. Pretty sure Veterans are high level Guards since they both have Perception proficiency and similar stats.https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Guardhttps://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Veteran
Guard to Veteran
Hit Die: D8 + CON modifier per level
Lv2 Guard, Perception Proficiency
Lv4 Ability Score Improvement (2 points)
Lv5 Multiattack: can attack twice, Athletics Proficiency
Lv6 Talent OR Proficiency
Lv7 Ability Score Improvement
Lv9 Ability Score Improvement
Proficiencies>Martial Melee Weapons>Martial Ranged Weapons>Heavy Armor
Talents (note that you can only get 1 talent at level 6)>Tough: +2 HP per level, retroactive>Crossbowman: ignore 'Loading' property of crossbows so can attack twice using multiattack>Cavalry: advantage against targets smaller than mount. Can force attacks targeting the mount to target the rider
Can make a copy of a Veteran or make some professional soldier variants using a talent. Their talents and Hit Die are weaker than what player's get since they're just guards.
Can have Guards start with a crossbow, padded/leather armor and dagger instead of spear, shield and chain shirt.
They level faster than players. Or should I just reduce the number of levels?
