He also, clearly, had a fetish for petrification - people being turned to stone. I'd consider that somewhat weirder, and more so for inanimate stone, and more so still for the implication, in one or two of these pictures, that there was no way to turn back, so it was effectively death. But that wasn't what got me.
What got me was that the little pieces of descriptive writing he added to some pics felt like the writer wanted to BE the person who was being turned, permanently, into an inanimate stone. That, in a sense, he was fetishizing the concept of his own death.
That was the feeling I got off it, anyway.
