There is a legitimate split in the /osrg/, between the the two main camps. The R in OSR being the true cause of the devide. "Revivalists" (GYG dogmatists) believe that only TSR-era games, played rules-as-written are true OSR. Any deviation, hacking, or meddling is REVISIONIST and HERETICAL. They approve of Oe, 1e, and b/x.
Then the "Renaissance Men" (DIYers) believe in a specific playstyle is OSR, Resource management, dungeon focused, high lethality are all elements of OSR to be mixed and matched in order to evoke that style of play via hacks and homebrews. They aprrove of LotFP, BECMI, Lab Lord, and Beyond the Wall. And to a lesser extent, they approve of OSR-lites such as DCC, GLOG, Into the Odd, the Black Hack, and Maze Rats.
If Sectarianism is not dealt with, and these two camps do not resolve their differences. One of two things will happen: The threads will die off and continue down this road of toxicity, or there will have to be a new thread for each Sect.
