This is how I imagined OP played out:
>Everyone rolls a L1 character
>I roll a fighter.
>character needs a backstory.
>kid was a bastard/ orphan, never new his parents, earned his living as a gleaner, cleaning battlefields of weapons and armor and bits of stuff from the fallen.
>was drafted into [insert noble's squabble here] as foot/ pike.
>survived, signed on with a merc company
>merc company hired to clear out bandits
>pyrrhic victory; he's decided to try and make it as an adventurer.
>Lvl 1 Fighter.
>some "teehee I'm a princess fighter and I've got coin and a bigass jeweled sword to flash around! silly boy, silly MENS you all have to do what i say becauseI'm KYUTE teehee" wants to immediately set herself up in a position of authority?
>disregard authority. I've already had my share of "authority". I want coin. And also a chance to prove myself.
Nothing to do with
>I pulled out my level 15 character to use, from my other campaign, he wouldn't even be interested in this.
My character's motivations aren't swayed by a pair of tits and flashy shoulder-armor, and he's not willing to effectively sell himself into slavery, not when he's just started having a taste of freedom.
