All you want for computers is the logic gate and if you could synthesize an organism to be more than a single on/off like the current transistors then it would be better which is why people's look to quantum computers. You can make transistors out of light right now but it's expensive and is still 1/0. If we had more control over biotechnology this would 100% be better than anything we currently have and the same or even greater than quantum computers. The speed would be very fast just like normal transistors but allows more logical gates in a very physically plausible way. Shame. Pretty much not there because we don't have that much control over biotechnology
