Yes since f(x) = x^2
f: R -> R+

Since -(x^2+y^2) = z^2
x^2+y^2 = a € R+
And z^2 = b € R+

Then -a = b

Then the only element for which -a=b is the additive identity or 0 since the domain is still R+

Well, the thing on the left is never positive, and the thing on the right is never negative. So obviously for them to be equal they can't be positive or negative. Which means they have to be 0. And again, you end up with -x^2 - y^2 = 0 so -x^2 = y^2, to which the same argument shows x = 0, y = 0.

If it's just in R then there is only one solution and it's the one you have found. LHS will only be <=0 and RHS can only be >= 0
Are you ok with why squares are always non-negative? It comes fron the ordering on R and is easy to show.
