>>10845483I applied as a asyluum who entered the US just in the middle of 11th grade. When I entered I couldn't take almost any honors or AP classes because >muh its too hard. I took 7 AP + Painting in senior year nevertheless.
I didn't have extracurriculars because the country where I come from schools do not have clubs bullshit, nor sports with a few exceptions. It was just a normal private school with patrician level education.
Had some national level awards in math olympiads because I participated in competitions since I was in 3rd grade because I found it fun and a good thing to brag about. Learned programming for fun. Other than that, I was just an edgy kid into weeb shit that spent countless hours every day lurking 4chan.
In the US I was (and am) poor as fuck, and had no opportunities (I was technically undocumented during the application process so I couldn't even take Federal Aid).
SAT score barely above the 1500. SAT II 780 in Math 2 and Physics. Didn't take TOEFL because it's too damn expensive.
Shit rec letters because "lol 5 months to get em".
Essays about why I'm an asyluum and why the fuck 2014 was the shittiest year ever.
Rejected from all top Unis and decided to go to FIU because it costs 6000$ a year if you live close.
>hurr durr jst wrk har n show us u ar pasionateThat's bullshit all top Unis say. I can't say I'm not bitter because of rejection, but I somehow felt they lie to people when they act as if you were going to get far by just doing the things you like and having good grades.
I wouldn't change my experiences as an edgy teenager for 999 club/internship/CC experience though.
