Fusion cannon

I just had an idea. If we made Fusion reactors fully functional and use them to generate massive amounts of energy, would it be possible to weaponize this into a gun that fires small “solar globes”?

For example, you mount a fusion reactor to a ship/cruiser and get it working with a small globe going around inside of it. Then you take the energy from this, into a smaller reactor that is connected to a cannon or exhaust port, and once this globe is large enough and provided with a target, you open the exhaust port and use magnetic fields or some form of gravity to launch it in one direction, thus this ball will travel a large distance and practically melt anything in its path. In theory.

Haven’t read that much about nuclear energy yet could this be possible or have I just watched too much Sci-fi?
