What type of job could a non-prodigy hope to have? my sole interest and dream field is to be involved in the design of consumer electronics.
I am not terribly picky, I would be happy working in the line of coffee makers or washing machines.
I was thinking of majoring in electrical engineering to meet this goal. Do you think this is realistic?

Sure, why not? You don't have to be a prodigy to work in any STEM field. 99% of people employed in such fields are not. If you like electronics, go for it. But maybe aim a little higher cause consumer products are fucking lame.

Probably. Not being a prodigy doesn't mean you're dumb either, and above a certain threshold you'll just have to put more effort into it than someone smarter would. And again, you're not necessarily under the average so you might still have it easier than most.
And of course, engineering isn't that hard. As >>10568540 said, it's plenty possible to graduate being average. Your dream-job isn't that hard to get either, as in it you'd have many opportunities and open positions since you're not very picky. I'd say you have very good chances to be honest.

but most of them work to build infrastructure for other businesses, for example if I would get a computer science degree and work all my life on software used by an insurance company I might as well just become a janitor. I wanted to pursue something that could lead me to working on market electronics, and I was wondering if electrical engineering would give me a realistic chance
