>>10398475We might not need to build something as smart as a construction worker to replace construction workers. Constructing a building is just a really complicated planning problem in my opinion, meaning a good amount of it can be solved with GOFAI. The hard part is manipulation, although for construction it might be a bit easier because the objects we need to manipulate are at least rigid and many have standard sizes. In addition, we might be able to get around the need for manipulating flexible objects like wires using purpose built systems and hardware. IE having a robot just for unspooling wire with little plastic bits on the wire to attach it to stuff. I am not an expert in construction, but there has been some work in getting robots to do building construction provided you can do manipulation.
>>10398745you've got the wrong details, but the right idea.
>>neural networks redesigning aircraftmost of that is for highly limited cases and doesn't actually use neural networks. As an aside these other approaches use some of the same techniques as neural networks.
>>simple desired requirementsthe problem is that most times we don't know what those are in fine enough detail to tell a computer.
>>logicif you could express it as logic then the computer could do it. The problem is common sense. You can put a bathroom in the middle of a conference room, but that's probably not a good idea. So instead it makes more sense to have the human make the general design, then have the computer do the fine design so that everything meets code and won't fall down. Also the computer bitches at the user if they do something stupidly dangerous. With this an architect can design a building almost entirely on their own. We still need engineers, but now we need a lot less. Now imagine this, but not only for buildings. It is quite possible we could eliminate a lot of engineering jobs.
