I had a debate with a autistic space enthusiast.

why do normies like the idea of space exploration? i donno, it gives them hope i guess. if you want to read up on some “science” (disclaimer: it’s actually crackpottery but maintains a sufficient facade of legit cosmology) look up Tipler’s Omega Point theory. his whole cosmology is basically based on the ASSUMPTION of christian resurrection. some people really need to believe in whatever makes them warm and fuzzy inside, basically cope

Very bad arguement, the universe will end in billions of years or way more than that. Thats a huge amount of time. Idk if you were paying attention last century but we began not knowing how to fly or barely knowing how and we ended it with moon landings. Tell him we'll never be able to explore more than 0.00000000001% of our universe because everything is constantly moving away from us way faster than the best ships we'll ever produce so we'll never be able to catch up with things outside of our local group of galaxies and at some point in the future those places will not even be visible to us anymore and we'll be surrounded by darkness.

If we're alone in our little corner of the universe we'll never encounter any other civilizations because they're likely all in the same situation as us.
