Why are doctors considered so highly (at least in my country, France) ?
Some medical fields such as psychiatry are total bullshit.
Some fields are filled with incompetent people, my father couldn't even get the right glasses for his eyes after seeing an ophtalmologist.
Most doctors seem to ignore how drugs they give work, their negative effects.
The Big Pharma is known to be an evil industry.
Yet most people highly respect doctors and drugs they prescribe...
I also have the impression that most people think they need a drug for every single defect, even the most benign, and this seems to cause phenomenas such as people spending money on homeopathy or taking antibiotics abusively.
Moreover I noticed that even anti-homeopathy, or anti non-conventional medicine group tend to also be overconfident about occidental medicine.
