>>10372769My experience (currently in my 2nd year) so far hasn't been great, the first year understandably had to cover a lot of basic topics so attending the classes amounted to squat, there was meant to be a class on assembly but that got cut due to staffing so the only real 'fun' I had that year was in my maths classes.
The societies that the people who attend this class get involved in routinely get ruined, either through general mismanagement or people who try and usurp the leadership positions. We were meant to have some good events this year (and a shitload of funding) for the CS society but through people having fits over 'inclusion' (they wanted someone kicked out because they made a joke) the students union responded by ejecting the president so we have to wait until the next election to get started again.
There's a clear split between the autists and brads in the class, I spent some time trying to get to know people in the prior group but they really go out of their way to not engage in conversation at all, not that it makes things any worse for myself, I just don't understand why they have to constantly be on the edge.
Thinking about it I was being a little hyperbolic as I've enjoyed my second year a little more since we've moved onto more challenging work.
