Would the soviets have been able to get the N1-L3 working if Korolyov didn't die as soon as he did?

maybe they could have gotten it "working" but they were already so far behind the americans even before korolyov died. if they tried to accelerate their program to catch up with the US by the time of the moon landing, it would have been a comedy of errors way worse than apollo 1 and apollo 13 (and the fact those two messups happened is good evidence that it was a big risk even for the US who was much further ahead and much more careful in general)

Soviets were seriously hampered not only by lack of funding but also had much less developed private industry to tap for skilled contractors (which is an important reason why the US managed to launch Apollo missions so quickly). They would have lost the space race even with Korolev alive.

Regardless of if they were able to beat the Americans or not given that there were still N1 tests after Apollo 11

The Russian moon missions were about more than just Sergei Korolev (Cep?e? ?a??o??? ?opo???), to achieve great success they would also need Valentin Glushko ( Ba?e???? ?e?po??? ??y??o) to collaborate with Korolev and Korolev and Glushko could not get along with each other :

Of course. But as with the US it was just propaganda and the value of finally getting to the Moon after the americans gave up and scrapped their rockets is a bit embarrassing. 2-3 more tries and it would have worked. Now, the dramas that could have unfolded after that might have made apollo 13 look silly.

Explain how the Soviets won the space race? The Soviet "Buran" was better than the American space shuttle but Buran only few a couple of times before the project was shut down and put in a museum.
