On occasion I'll have to dispute the grade when the professor isn't satisfied by my vague proof, but in those cases, I organize a thoroughly explained argument to why--the chunk of work, I couldn't explain mathematically at the time--was "clearly evident upon observation" and "trivial", in the given circumstantial time crunch of the test.
