>>10072615What do I want?
Call me a weeb, but I want SAO. I want giant robots. I want spaceships and achievable space travel. Hell, I want there to be a point to space travel. I want teleportation. I want lightsabers and electromagnetic-reflector armour. I want to be a bounty hunter on a space ship. I want flying cities. I want flying vehicles to be practical. I want virtually limitless energy through some discovery that allows us to radically change the way society works.
I'm being unrealistic, of course. This is all sci-fi shit, but that's kind of the point. Anything that could actually make me feel like I've gone anywhere scientifically would have to actually change the course of my life. Have you actually looked at the news and though "oh shit, this will change everything!" anytime recently? Personally, I've tried to be excited by things. I've tried to really keep up with the new technology, but the more I do the more I'm disappointed and the more my eyes darken day by day.
>...are more than happy with the way things are as is.The way things are is functional, but even now it seems unsustainable. We keep on growing our population, manufacturing more, destroying nature, just to grow more, manurfacture even more, and destroy more of nature. All this science, and yet the Great Barrier Reef is still dying. I would say that I would love to go see it before it's fully gone, but I bet it's just a tourist hotspot at this point.
So, I'm not happy with the way things are or the advances that we're making. I just don't see us actually making meaningful advances.
>>10072643This guy covers some of my current feelings too. The advancements in statistical analysis and data throughput of various systems is really just used for the profit of corporations and fucking of the populace. So, wow! - We're reaching 400Gb/s optical links in datacentres now... all that means is that amazon and google can better analyze your interests to abuse you for money.
