The problem is the turbine engines on a plane are air breathing, the higher you go the thinner the air gets meaning the engines need to work that much harder to provide comperable thrust. Additionally the wings will generate less lift as the air thins meaning you need bigger and bigger wings.
If you were using chemical engines instead then you are just in a rocket ship with wings.
Something like virgin galactic's space plane uses a carrier to get it high in the atmosphere and then has a rocket burn to get above the atmosphere.
