Draw a 4x6 grid of all possible outcomes. Each of the 24 squares is equally likely. So for 1-4 it's 5/24+3/24+1/24=9/24, or alternatively 1/4+1/6-1/24=6/24+4/24-1/24=9/24. The latter is an example of the "inclusion-exclusion principle": |A?B|=|A|+|B|-|A?B|, which can be extended to any number of sets by applying that rule recursively. As the number of sets grows, its usually easier to count intersections of 2,3,4,... sets with alternating signs than to count the 2^n-1 disjoint sets formed by the intersections of n sets.

Cats don't have this problem because their brains are tiny but presumably catgirls would be as smart as humans (otherwise no point in fucking them). So if real ear canals are going to come down from the cat ears, that's going to be a very tricky engineering issue.

In terms of natural numbers, isn't the complex plane technically 4-dimensional, with two pairs of degenerate axis (one "+" and the other "-")? Wouldn't that cause some problems in complex computations, especially where the origin is a pole?
Woud it be possible, or impossible, to express phasors in 3-phase terms, with one real and two imaginary axes, with the condition that no axis goes into the negative range?

I was taught that in order for you to be able to do u-substitution in integration, the derivative of the function being integrated must be somewhere within the integral itself

I understand that much, I'm just very confused as to how $e^u=e^{ln\left(x\right)}$ is valid, when $\frac{d}{dx}\left(ln\left(x\right)\right)=\frac{1}{x}$

Yeah, $x=e^u=e^{ln\left(x\right)}=x$ , and yeah $\frac{d}{dx}\left(e^u\right)=e^u$ , I just don't see how it works if the derivative of ln(x) is 1/x

Well, consider $u = \text{ln}(x) \Rightarrow du = \frac{dx}{x}$ and $dx = e^u du$ . Inserting $u = \text{ln}(x)$ into the second one gives \frac{dx}{x} = u, while $x = e^u$ in the first gives $dx = e^u du$ , so they are inverses, it just hidden a little bit.
