He does produce nice illustrative pieces. I say the "party trick" thing because he's not really trying his hardest when doing the "wall drawn". Let's look at the Jeep for example in OP.
The tires are shaded with a shadow bellow both and there seems to be light on their sides.
So so sun cannot be at his side, the sun should be on top of the Jeep, but then if the sun is on top of the jeep the rest of the piece should have the shading on all the objects of the bottom. like the back of the neck, deep shadows in all places that have top light and a very strong shadow beneath the jeep.
Then I don't get why he mixes black as shading and black as a colour. As we can see in his "A" uniform. The flame is not a shadow but he still colours it black. So my eye doesn't know if the bottom of the arm is a shadow or just a black and white overall
I could go on with specifics but you can get the point. It's more of a "drawing" details thing that he does than actually making his piece coherent.
