>>4119689It's up to you. I can't recall ever reading any master artist saying you should work in silence, but it doesn't matter, because what worked for them doesn't necessarily work for others.
I usually have something on in the background - chill music, classical, old movies I can kind of pay attention to peripherally, or podcasts. I don't listen to metal or anything super aggressive, it's too demanding for attention. Or I'll load up a tv series on Netflix, or a bunch of movies I've seen a million times on VLC.
Everyone's brain processes differently. If it works for you, go with it.
