Personally, I think the box challenge is a great tool for drilling perspective to the point of being nearly intuitive, but I don’t like the pure repetition of it - I think shapes should be deviated, and used perhaps to learn construction against landscapes or industrial architecture - and this is even good for those who want to focus on characters, because duh, always draw in perspective.
Some of the exercises are meh, but it comes down to thoughtful practice and I think taking each exercise under consideration for what it is, whether you need it, and if you’re doing it to its full potential is a good starting block from a more academic, sterilized light for artists.
