Found a BFA graduate's work from my uni.

This painting really pulls me in for whatever reason, but not sure why because I'm bad with words.

What do you think?
Any criticism is valid as long as you have have good reasoning.

It's boring and frankly uninspired. The work done on the body itself is average looking realism with some red to make it pop which isn't uncommon or anything. It's unfinished as well and in a bad way, we're not in the 1920s this isn't dadaism you're in no way progressive or pushing the borders by leaving most of your canvas blank.

the color done is also half assed and shows this person has little understanding not just of composition but what actually makes a painting good. This is what your art looks like when you just start at instagram posts with the hashtag #painting #contemporaryart all day long and never look at an actual great painters works.

It's not BAD but it's just average and the person has no spirit or individuality which will ever stick out on their canvas most likely.

Pretty shitty IMO.
Looks like a collage of vogue magazine pics and cereal box cut outs. Their attempt at painting the appearance of light is horrible, outing themselves as having no understanding of how light behaves, wraps around a form. Adequate time nor attention was taken to properly address soft or lost edges, not to speak of their compositional relation to one another.
Verdict: They wasted a lot of money at school and on this painting.

..unless this is yours and you're indirectly asking randoms to praise your work. Well you don't seem very clever, and this reflects on your art.

your imagination tries to complete the left out parts. together with the scribble and some sexlegs it generates attention.

once you see the gimmik you realize its not really good.
the colors dont harrmonize the painting technique isnt interesting rather mediocre hobby painter level. you could interpret a woman in distress into their poses wich is all the rage in those WOKEtrumpbadman times.

I can see human emotion in it and that's good. The rendering of the body parts is pretty bad, the painting would work much better if they were better rendered.

rendering is very amateurish, and there's no point of focus or element that pops out, which is where abstract art shines imo
