You can make a looped video, but it would be more efficient to use Flash or a browser script. Or do it in Unity.
To design and build the zoomquilt it is helpful to use a program that allows you to use smart objects or linked files, like Photoshop.
Create a file like attached. It has a one point perspective. The center area is the preview of the next area. Once you paint the first image, copy the center area to a new image and scale it up to full screen size. Polish and add more details. Repeat until you have enough images. Make sure that the last and first image fit together.
