When someone posts a drawing in the draw thread that is so broken on every level, how can anyone possibly give advice succinctly and effectively? Same goes for the beginner threads but generally I think they're more encouraging of doing photo studies or studying anatomy for instance, which is something that can be easily criticized. The draw thread is more open ended because the expectation is that the artist has a decent grasp on most elements such that if there is a problem with the lighting, or the anatomy, or whatever it's usually minute enough to be able to point out and give good useful critique that can be applied to the picture without reworking it from the ground up.
