Thank you for the info, I was actually planning on carefully using watercolor on bristol for a comic. It's not ideal but apparently doable, some artists do it like pic related

I've read watercolour comics but they were drawn on WC paper, so the inking suffers. I'd like to know more about the process on painting on Bristol.

Where do i go for more... exaggerated gestures? When i try to draw the kind of references itt they always look so boring and stiff because i cant do subtle very well. I want less subtle and more eccentric gestures

the point is to analyze the model, don't draw the model. it's your job to push the gesture. drawing more dynamic poses is just going to make stiff poses of people in action.

You're right, it's hard to feel the pose when there isn't meaning behind it.
These are more helpful to study anatomy.
Search video of people that are actually doing something:
Athletes, mma fighters, dancers, actors.

These are 60 seconds each, it's my first time showing something I do on /ic/ and I'm also completely new to the board so there is that.
Most are missing their heads cause it's kinda what I go for last and sometimes I get lost elsewere and run out of time.

looks good but for two of them, bottom left and bottom middle, you have parallel lines for the pelvis and torso. we have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrapposto where we typically make the lines of shoulders and waist intersect. this allows us to shift the weight of our body and make for more interesting poses along illusion of depth/3d. i don't have a resource like a video or book to point you to off the top of my head but figure books should cover it.

actually there's a japanese book i remembered: (Tatsuya Ihara) Revolutioary Pose and Application of Contraposto Poses

Ok so i decided to give gesture drawing a try after like 6 months.
Any crits? Should i try to draw the least amount of lines as i possibly can(what i did with pic related)? Or should i try with more strokes to study the form better?

Thanks a bunch.
Here are some more, these are 90 seconds per pose and a lot less lose (in a different mindset than last set). Did them before checking your reply so if you spot any parallel lines for pelis and torso theres my excuse.

My man you can draw the same thing hundreds of times if you want, but if you are doing an exercise that is timed it is better to keep going to finish all the poses instead of pausing all the time

I really wish I could do something similar, but whenever I use charcoal I just smear it all over and it looks messy and dirty as fuck. Maybe my sticks are too tender I don't know.
