It's instinctive. The first one ensures the gene pool will be diverse and the kids will have a higher chance of surviving, while the second one ensures the genes that person is currently carrying will go on.
That's why sometimes a person will get a partner who looks or resembles a family member.
In extreme cases, where two persons from the same family are separated at birth and don't know each other, it is very common that when they meet for the first time they feel very strong sexual attraction to each other. Many bizarre cases of kids who were given for adoption and then meet their biological mother/father 20 years later, and then they fuck and become a couple; or couples who later find they're actually siblings, exist.
