In california, you cannot charge someone with rape if a penis wasn't involved in some manner. If a guy forces his finger into a vagina, it's sexual assault. And is sentenced differently. In 5 other states, rape can only occur with "vaginal intercourse."
So depending on where you live, you might have been raped. You might not.
