>>98854755The thing about this comic is that it's nowhere near unacceptably awful-tier, it's pretty much "meh" at its worst. The problem is that compared to a few years ago, everything in the comic has become significantly worse.
The artwork used to be unique, colorful and actually fun to look at. Now it's tumblr beanmouths and simple unfinished looking drawings most of the time with a bunch of boring unthreatening colors. Look up any old page (pre-chapter 5) and you will see better art + backgrounds, very often filled with hundreds of spirits. It gave the comic personality. We're never going to see a full page with backgrounds again.
The writing used to parody anime in a pretty funny way, now it borrows the absolute worst "muh drama" anime tropes without a hint of irony. The pacing was never really good but now it's worse than it's ever been, with the current chapter being over three years old and still having a surprising lack of actual content because the author is trying to insert like 10 different sub-stories into one chapter (pic related). By default, this is pacing-suicide because webcomics tend to not have quick story progression by nature. If you try to have a One Piece-size cast at a (SOMETIMES) 2 pages a week schedule you're never going to tie up all loose ends.
Combine all of this with the fact that the author is surrounded by a hugbox and people who tell him it's okay to slack off constantly, and you can see that the comic is absolutely doomed. He's either going to work on the comic for like another decade with its quality constantly degrading, or he's going to suffer a mental breakdown in the next 1-2 years and can the comic entirely.
