Being OK with crossboarders is a relatively recent phenomenon born out of the fact that /pol/ refuses to stick to their containment board.
The issue isn't "you can only have one interest and thus only use one board." Using different boards was fine and that's not what "crossboarding" really was. The issue was that each board had its own board culture, memes, etiquette, etc. By crossboarding, you were polluting the well by bringing other board cultures into different boards, homogenizing 4chan, and ruining what makes each board unique in the process. Nowadays, rampant crossboarding (mostly thanks to the aforementioned /pol/ crossboarders) has led to this exact problem where most boards have lost their individual identities in favor of this one generic homogenous "everybody is a cynical shitposter that calls people they disagree with a shill, cuck or soyboy."
