There is sort of the similar parallel going on with Star/Mina and Marco/Sensei, where they were both "loser" versions of the protags but aged up. Well, it turned out that Mina was still a crazy hobo, but a crazy hobo who could fuck you up.

Even if the wand is stolen, Star has her golden form as well as more training and perhaps more raw talent, so she can still fight Meteora with a wand.
