This is on ongoing problem and it has hurt fans of so many varieties, that at this point doing anything that allows it to continue seems like a horrible mistake to some of us and arguably, given the financial success of BvS and SS in spite of their monumental issues, they make the best mountains to take a stand on. Batman isn't going anywhere, Superman isn't going anywhere. You say yourself that the absolute worst case scenario is they shelve the whole thing and try again in a few years.
So instead of settling for a half-assed cash grab because you want live action justice league and you want it now, maybe, think about how cool it would be to get WB to get their head out of these ass, get their sit together over the next four years, and then spend the twenty something years after that giving us more movies like "the dark knight" than movies like "our mom's have the same name-jollyrancher-ninjaturtle-piss-in-a-jar fest" or "let's take a bunch of fun characters and put them in the final set piece against power ranger villains from the 90's fifteen minutes into the movie."
