>>96116662That's possible. We've never seen a black tree during a Big Bad attack.
I've actually thought about what the black trees' purpose is.
Probably too much. The black trees might be a "last resort" thing for the Moonflowers' own survival. Depending on their aptitude, they can help them, or hurt them in various ways. A smart Moonflower might use them to set themselves on the right track, while hopeless ones will use them to delve deeper into despair.
For Kiyoshi, he can divine a vague vision of the future, which he can use to either prepare for it, OR to lament it. Obviously, until Hanazuki came around, he chose to wallow in his despair rather than try to change what was to come. He admits his visions are "50%," so he obviously knew it wasn't guaranteed, just a flip of the coin.
For Kiazuki, she found out their fruits can be used as weapons. This could be used to fight back a threat, like Mazzadrils, OR to push people away out of a desire to be left alone. Or worse, to use them to control something to wreak havoc out of spite, like in the S1 finale.
It could just be coincidental writing, but it'd be odd if a show that lives by the motto "There's no such thing as a bad mood" would vilify one specific mindset. It's not a GOOD emotion, but on its own it's not something to hate someone over, but rather help them through.
