To culture newfags:
Originally it was two separate sentences
>sweden>yesIt was from some ebic krautchan thread when the flags on /int/ didn't work. Everybody replied as a swede, and when the flags worked again it was hilarious.
Pic related.
Years ago people dropped the ">" and just read like a single sentence, because people just saw it time and time again and 90% of the userbases of /int/ and specially /pol/ are now newfags and nobody knows what it meant, they just assumed it was like that.
People just started using it as "Sweden, Yes!!" as in "this is a very good thing that just happened!" as if it were an ironic remark on something bad.
I made a thread on /pol/ asking if anybody else remembered what it was, and got called a newfag faggot by twenty posters, and when I showed them the kc thread they called me a newfag again.
The absolute state of 4chan man.
tl:dr:
it happens to all memes, people forget their meaning
