It was a little bit like Pirates of the Dark Water, but set in a world inspired by Asian myths and legends instead of European ones. It was fairly bold for an ABC Family cartoon, too. You have this 112 year old boy (I promise it makes sense in context) who's a pacifist by nature, but he keeps getting thrown into these situations that he'd rather resolve peacefully and usually has no choice but to fight. What really makes it interesting is that the ultimate drive of the series is that he's got to get strong enough to fight this evil Emperor-type guy that wants to take over the world, and that pretty much everyone is leaning on him to pull it off by killing the guy (again, pretty ballsy for a kid's show on ABC). As the show went on, the main character was increasingly uncomfortable with this because he doesn't even like fighting, let alone the idea of actually having to kill someone.
It's a goddamn shame it got cancelled before the plot could be resolved... Or maybe it didn't, I still haven't seen the last five or six episodes of the series. From what I understand, they only aired once or twice and are now considered lost media.
Great show, though. There was a campaign a few years back to revive it, even a few rumblings about a spin-off... Nothing ever came of it, as far as I know. Such a waste.
