>>92626223>I have three nephews and I can say with all the confidence in the world that you are full to the brim with shit, they'll buy anything that has the face of anything they like on it, one of my nephews has a collection of FNaF garbage and he bought a plastic tube that has stickers of the characters on it, kids are finicky as fuck and they're easy to impress when it comes to fucking merch. They did an experiment where they gave kids a choice between a cupcake and a cupcake with Spongebob on it. Kids naturally chose the one with Spongebob.
Then they offered some kids a plain cupcake and... a rock with a Spongebob sticker on it.
Kids overwhelmingly went for the rock with the sticker.
It's not the cartoon itself that makes money. It's making your franchise so well known to your target demographic that they'll buy anything bearing its likeness. People will pay you for the honor of allowing your popular cartoon character on their snacks, valentines cards, paper plates, bike helmets, shirts and anything else you can possibly sell to their parents.
"Billy likes Spiderman. It's all he ever talks about. So I'll get him Spiderman X instead of generic X."
