What if the reason why the Blake, Yang and Weiss parts feel like they aren't taking place 8 months after Beacon like RNJR does, is because it isn't?
Like the WBY parts ARE months ago, and its building up to them leaving their separate adventures and leaving to Haven to meet up with Ruby in the season finale.

Pyrrha and Qrow barely use their guns though. Yes they have them in case they need them because almost everyone does but Pyrrha only fired 2 or 3 shots in her entire run on the show and Qrow only fired twice, once at Winter and once during the Beacon battle.

Both have far more effective ranged options through their own abilities. Pyrrha can magnetically control her sword and Qrow can launch sword shockwaves.

Okay, so, I like Lancaster as a platonic ship, and I wouldn't mind seeing it develop into a straight up relationship, but honestly, I don't see it happening until Jaune can finally move on from Pyrrha's death.

Also, I don't hate Jaune as a character. I mean, yeah, I could see why some tumblrites thought Jaune's persistent behavior towards Weiss could be skeevy were it ANYONE ELSE, but it's fucking Jaune.

He's a self-admitted awkward mess, whose only advice regarding dealing with girls was from his mother, and it's clearly failed him. He's bound to do everything wrong when it comes to talking to girls. Every time he tries to get Weiss to notice him or to ask her out, it's played for laughs, which some people just can't grasp, and are TRIGGERED the fuck out.

And now there's people who are complaining that Jaune's got too much screentime, and that they're not focusing on how Pyrrha's death affected the rest of RNJR.

With Ren and Nora, that's a valid complaint given that Pyrrha was their teammate, but Ruby knew fuck-all about her, and the only reason those fans think Pyrrha meant anything to Ruby in any way was the fact that her death triggered her SPECIAL EYES.

I'm willing to bet that if it was ANYONE ELSE who died in front of her, Ruby would have gone all SILVER EYES on Cinder anyway.

Well, except Team CRDL. Fuck 'em.

Stronger =/= better fighter

Nora can oneshot four people but Ren is the better fighter. He has better aim, better precision and his weapons are light which allow him to fight more effectively at close range.

Look at the Tyrian fight. Ren was holding his own in CQC and then jumped out of his range. Nora had her hammer attack blocked and that was the end of her offensive.

You need both. Technique is pointless if you land a million hits that do no damage (like Weiss hitting Banesaw a bunch but he shrugged it off and just facegrabbed her) and being able to punch craters in someone is pointless if they have an easily dodge or counter ready (Yang certianly could mess Adam up if she could punch him but she rushed him straight on and he had an easily counter ready)

This is why the main characters fail so far, because they either have one or the other.

It's a shame that RWBY's growth and potential are being held back by RT. I feel myself losing interest in RT partially because of the slow pacing. It takes them almost 20 weeks to air 12 episodes because of WoR, breaks and events. Then you need to wait for 8-9 months for next volume to begin.

At this point I'm not sure whether I want longer episodes, or the episodes and volumes to be released faster.

The thing about fighting is that there is so many goddamn factors and reasons for why one person is better at it than another that saying something like that is just plain ignorant.

Yang for example doesn't need to be a cleaner or more orthodox fighter. Most of her issues are more to do with the way she picks and chooses her spots to flurry.

Bugger is though, RT can't keep their animation company afloat on the back of one show (not yet at least) so have to do other stuff to keep the lights on and the animators in work because they don't like to use contractors. Which is ultimately the better call but its a pain in the ass in other ways

You know I'm genuinely curious. Has there ever been a fight in RWBY that had exchanges?

I got the Yellow trailer open in another tab and the fight against Militia and the other one was underwhelming as hell.

Militia pushed Yang back and after the distance was reset Yang just bonked her away, wailed on the now almost statue still Militia before moving on to fight the White one.

That fight was a bit better but the end came once again with Yang moving while the opponent just stood there and took it.

Well the short version is that he's not really the chosen one or the everyman character that stuff just happens to happen to.

He's fairly proactive, his involvement in the story is largely not because the story went to him but he came to the story.

His pursuit of Weiss was actually kind of refreshing, the real lack of utter heroism in his backstory and motivation is interesting in comparison because even in comparison to the less than saintly motivations of the other cast members, "my dad shit on me for not being strong, but fuck him I know I''m not weak" is different.

There's Cinder vs Ozpin despite only being like a minute long. It flowed well and both never really had a point where they'd just stop moving and let the other attack, they kept countering.

They clash with their weapons and Ozpin knocks Cinder back but she summons up ice while she's recovering and then tosses them at Ozpin who knocks them away and rushes her, hits her a bunch and punches her back but she recovers mid toss and charges up a fire beam, while Ozpin activates a shield and then rushes her as she blasts him and tries to force his way through it.

And that's all we see but at no point in that brief fight did it have the "character a stops fighting so character b can have a turn" that most other fights in the show tend to have.

However that fight also entirely was reliant on magical powers with no actual martial arts to speak of.

Yup, more than a few replies seemed to think so
I'd say it's because prior to that all we knew about the opening was what we heard from people at the convention who didn't have the luxury of seeing it very well or pausing the video to see details, so they jumped the gun and assumed brother. So when we finally got to see the opening, there were people here who were already assuming it was a brother because that's what they heard.

I think all of the Atlas high class don't bother learning how to fight and use aura. They clearly don't seem to the be the type to risk their skin, and they think armies are the solution to the Grimm.

No series gets written from start to finish when it starts airing.
At most, what gets written are general directions on some specifics events that will need to occur along it, and maybe a general final status to write the ending on.
But then again, none of this is mandatory and almost no one does it, let alone have the entire series written down since episode one.

Like, let's use Tauradonna as an example. Let's say the through some twist of fate those end up back together in a relationship. The only comment on their progress so far was the RT life video Gray posted about Animation moving buildings that was released before thanksgiving. In it he commented how the mocap for episodes 6 and 7 were just completed and that they were the last mocaps done in that old room before it was to be broken down and moved over. Now Kerry one xtra life was commenting how he just came over from moving during 2 spooky so at that point, they hadn't even finished cleaning up the mocap yet which is a pretty involve process. So that was...what 3/4 weeks ago now?

They can't. They have to write like 3 or 4 shows or else it's not worth their RT paychecks.

This is why actual studios only bring in writers on commission and pay them per script, rather than having them be employees that have to hang around the office doing something all day.

For all the hype and work they put into it it should be better. More over it somehow got worse from the early release as they worked on it.

And thanks to all the idiots that bought it just because it was RWBY and praised it without actually really playing the game, the people working on it got big heads and ignored all critism, mocking anyone that didn't blindly like it much like Miles and Kerry do themselves.

Yeeeup, short of a major infusion of outside capital, RT is going to have to keep doing things this way or resort to cutting everyone down to contractor status and firing them at the end of each season. I sincerely hope they don't do this of course, but there are very very few studios that keep a permanent animation staff on hand for this very reason.

You'd think Fullscreen would give them a hand with it. RWBY, with a LOT of spit and polish, could be sold as a cartoon series in the vein of the Avatar series. It's already one of RTs most successful products, a little push and it could be even more so

I honestly wonder just how much dosh fullscreen promised them though? I mean I definitely see a major uptick in the sheer number of shows, and they've freely admitted they wouldn't have been able to restart Immersion without Fullscreen's help, but yeah I would like more resources directed to RWBY, at least to get more fleshed out episodes.

God I'd give my arm for more fleshed out episodes. Keep the same number per volume, hell keep the same production schedule (I know WOR's piss people off but as a lore hound I kind of enjoy them) but standardize on each episode being 22 minutes long and the show would be leaps and bounds better. We'd get time to actually explore stuff like how RNJR are handling Pyrrha's death, Weiss wouldn't have to make do with scraps of screentime, we'd finally get a training montage out of Yang
Shit would be glorious and it will likely never happen. Even the best case scenario is it happens years from now

Aside from switching to Maya and increasing the size of their team, the only published example I can see was Adam's tweet a while back showing a massive pile of Nvidia GTX1080 cards that were going to be set up for their new Render farm. Aside from that, I can't really point to anything physical that shows more dosh is coming their way.

They have already handled that during the timeskip. Sucks, huh? So far it's only Jaune who has shown that he's still mourning. Ruby, Ren and Nora have said, done or shown nothing how they are feeling over her death. Still half a volume left, so it might change. I hope so.

But you're right. There is a lot of stuff that is skipped, that happen off-screen only because there is no budget for longer episodes.
