I didn't actually like it that much.

I would've been into it if Mystery Girl had like, any characterization at all that would've made Pearl be endeared to her, like maybe she acted a fuckton like Rose or something. But Pearl just being physically thirsty over anything big and pink is just...eh for me.

I think the episode that best captures the feel of the show without spoiling anything major or requiring previous knowledge, and consequently the best introductory episode, is Giant Woman

>good introduction to the characters and their dynamic
>great music (Opal, Amalgam, the title song) and art
>muh subtle and slowly building lore
>a bit of that chill and dreamy childhood optimism that's all over the first season

It's not really all that sudden.
We've had like 6 episodes of filler in each of the past two seasons.
Here we've gotten like 2.5 so far (this week's seems to actually be going somewhere).

On a serious note

I think I enjoyed the episode because I've had nights where a similar series of events occurred and it brought a sense of beautiful nostalgia. I'm reminded that we miss 100% of the shots we don't take and I wouldn't have met so many wonderful people had I not gone beyond myself to have fun on some of those fun University and Law School nights.

I guess I just kind of related to it, that's all.

Different strokes for different folks. And, of course, I loved the music.

Yeah to be honest. I'm not sure I'm liking season 4. Mindful Education was good, but outside of that it's been mediocre, and honestly the gay is starting to be a bit over the top. This is the second episode in a row where a new human character is introduced solely for the purpose of adding more gay romance to the show.

I'm sort of surprised at feeling this way because I went into the show aware of it's sjw lgbt reputation, but I've liked it a lot and thought it doesn't bother me, it's cute. But it's just starting to be so much, like they're shoving the actual plot aside for romance drama.

Meh it was okay.

Like either the cops showing up randomly or them running out of gas would have been fine of their own but the fact both happened in one episode was a bit of suspension of disbelief.

But there was plenty of great pearl moments, especially the "hair come in pink" and the "some type of code" moments. The bits where she talked about being a rebel were mediocre, especially as she didn't actually seem that emotional about was arguably the most important struggle of her life.

Although, and if people have opinions on this please voice them, I feel this development in Pearls story has really come out of nowhere.

Obviously Mr Greg has had an effect on her, but why has it turned her back into a thrill-seeking rebel? The recognition of her heroes departure and the end of an assumed mourning period would surely only open up a dialogue with Greg or Steven. I don't see how Mr Greg would open onto this episode. Pearl has NEVER seemed that rebellious or outgoing up until this episode, why this sudden change? I could understand if admitting the loss of Rose caused her to seek out a new hot lesbo pink haired darling, but cause a fresh rebellious streak? I don't buy it.

What am I missing here? Pearls my favourite character so I feel I should understand more what's going on here but I really don't. Help me lads.

I think it's because this is a joke ep, a crewniverse in-joke, a parody of old teen movies complete with the hot dream girl, so they modified the characters to fit that trope - but it doesn't fit where the characters are storywise, and even if it was made to be one big AU parody interlude, it's now canon. It feels bad. And wrong, somehow.
