I'm a certified hater, I liked it. Jake was beautiful in this! Actively supportive and protective, but also funny, hovering around Finn, making little comments, changing shapes in the background in subtle and useful ways. Also perfect light, old-fashioned roles for BMO and Shelby. That little song worked too, kinda grazed by like it's supposed to, how they used to.
Finn's not terribly expressive as usual, but this was pretty good for his modern personality. His dialogue was intelligent, a little bit wry, not awkward. He was even defending himself against Jake's meddling, pic related. Too bad they feel Jake has to be there chaperoning, but it's in character I guess so fine.
>Ya teen!
HW wasn't spectacular or anything but I feel they did a decent job fleshing out how she operates and what her goals are. Her comments about her house were solid jokes. The scene of hunting down the boar when they didn't have to was amusing, casual magic drug use was too.
That's amazing how, even though she predictably had to reject Finn because reasons, she fucking liked him. They let a nice girl come on to him! INCREDIBLE! Too bad that probably won't carry onto the work of other boarders but it seriously warms my heart. Jake wants to see Finn in a nice relationship with a cool girl, I do, we all do.
My question though, again, if they want Finn to not focus on girls, do we need to keep bringing this up. It's okay, we get it. I know he gets the pitter patters all the time but it doesn't need to be addressed so seriously. Make up your mind guys, I'm no longer impressed by episodes trying to show me that dating isn't a big deal / isn't necessary. (Because honestly, they're justifying their laziness, since relationships are hard to write).
I know Moyns left the show but his partner is apparently not bad. Looking forward to that.
