Well, I'm not really a Mandofag anymore. I was barely ever one only on account of being a fan of Fett, though that's null and void now in regards to Mandalorians.

But as for how I feel about her.. She's alright. I was a little confused with her being space-asian instead of Scandinavian like all other Mandos, but whatever. I'm interested to see how Mandalore has turned out under the Empire.

Knights of the fallen empire released today for swtor. It is really fucking good, probably one of the best star wars stories so far. It's not canon, but if you like star wars it's worth cekcing out at least.

Probably militaristic again just with focus on the empire and since they are now part of the Empire probably rely on other planets to cultivate shit while they churn out troops for the Empire.

Well, some folks have speculatd that the Mando's we see in the trailer could be Super Commando imperial loyalists who could be a kind of special forces similar to the Republic's ARC Trooper.

On the flip side they could just be Mandalorian insurgents against the empire and couldn't give a shit about the rebellion.

Finished rewatching Attack of the Clones today.

I really don't get how people say it's worse than the Phantom Menace. Yeah, anakin is one of the least likable protagonists in film history and the love story is so creepy and contrived, but aside from that, the action and visuals are engaging the whole way through. Phantom Menace is just a boring slog and Jar Jar makes me want to claw my eyes out.

Look at the final fight between Dooku and Anakin.
Probably the literal worse choreography I've ever seen.
George tries to go for a profound battle in the dark thing, but it just fails so hard.

The final battle in the arena is also so sloppy.
So many lightsabers, but they all feel limp and impotent.

The only thing memorable about the entire movie is seismic bombs that the Slave 1 launches against Obi Wan.

At least Episode 1 had the last remnants of practical effects in the series.

Try something closer to 15 generations. Up until TCW, Mandalore had largely been without major war since they dissolved their old warrior ways and banished those who did not to Concordia 700 years prior.

Besides, were I the governor of the Mandalore system and I wanted to bring back the Supercommando thing, I'd keep it to small numbers, and actually keep the rest of the academy grads as regular Stormtroopers. The Supercommandos would be very useful when correctly used, but too many of them (especially if they grow too unruly) could be a huge problem. So many men with that kind of training could be a big military threat to the Empire. So I'd keep it to a platoon at most.

Those were models.
Like when they're crashing through the trees and Obi Wan saves Jar Jar.

Or the explosion of the Droid Control Shop.
A real model.
That explosion is the last model they exploded in Star Wars.

And puppets.

And C3P0.

They even built a real sized pod racer.

I don't know how you can think that Episode 2 and 3 have more practical effects.

When was the last time you re-watched The Phantom Menace?

AOTC suffers from a disjointed story. While Obi-Wan's side of the plot is magnificent, he keeps getting interrupted by the love story, and then when everyone reaches Geonosis the whole movie falls apart. First Obi-Wan gets there and we're stuck in a holding pattern while we wait for Anakin and Padme to show up. Then they arrive and we get the droid factory sequence that doesn't really go anywhere and mostly just pads for time. Then we go directly to the arena fight, where first the good guys fight the beasts, win, but it doesn't matter, droids. BUT SUDDENLY JEDI!

Then we get the big Jedi-droid-beast fight that goes on WAY too long and ultimately takes us right back to where it began: the good guys are fucked. THEN SUDDENLY CLONES! And this is when we finally start to actually move forward again, because now we move out of the arena fight and into the larger ground battle, which lasts just long enough for everyone get the point before moving on to the duel with Dooku.

But this big long train of Geonosis action just really gets exhausting. Most of the scenes wear out their welcome fairly quickly, and the ones that don't come along so late that you're really tired and just want the movie to end by the time they show up. It's the same problem you run into with The Amazing Spider-Man 2; it's so bloated that even the good just gets overwhelmed and dragged down.

Literally just last night. I'm rewatching in chronological order. I couldn't wait for Phantom Menace to be over when I was at least mildly engaged in Attack of the Clones, though not much.

They are both bad movies and I'm not trying to praise Episode II, but I would rather sit through it again than all of the boring trade shit in the first one.

But I do agree that Episode II's pacing was really off. For the first two thirds, it was like watching two separate movies that kept interrupting each other. It would have been better if George found a more cohesive way to blend the stories together.

And no, that Droid Control Ship is not the last model they exploded in Star Wars, not by a long shot. They also blew up Padme's ship at the start of Attack of the Clones; that was a model. And that big Trade Federation ship that was taking off during the Battle of Geonosis.

I don't know if I'd say AOTC and ROTS have MORE practical effects, but they're absolutely packed with them.

Oh dont get me wrong, I watch TPM the other day and I noticed that there was easily more practical effects in that one that probably any other SW movie. Probably more than multiple SW movies combined.

But saying that it was the last SW movie with notable practicals is just wrong, 2 and 3 had a shitton. Just a lot more CGI too, which with context is understandable. 2 and 3 were set on mostly COMPLETELY alien worlds or cities. And even then they built miniatures and pasted them into the background.

I actually agree here. The arena scene is GOAT, but did it really need the factory scene before it? Plus the Jedi fight? Cut out those scenes and the pacing would have felt a lot smoother.

Replace the Jedi in the arena with that scene where Ki-Adi Mundi leads the jedi to shut of the droids (which was cut)

Then have a gladiator fight with just Windu and Jango, make it more intense and personal, keep the monsters running around with Obi-Wan and Anakin and shit.

I'm no filmmaker, but that would have improved the action scenes IMO.

They were still pushing special effect technology to an incredible degree. Think Avatar. Is it's story or writing particularly moving? No? Exactly, it was incredibly popular for its visuals.

I can imagine the Star Wars prequels being received in the same way. Popular for a summer and then mostly forgotten about except for the visuals. Their biggest faults were having culturally icon movies as predecessors, so they can never be forgotten, only held up to the standards of the older movies.

I think it should be watched. It's still a very beautiful, if extremely short, cartoon that doesn't make enough waves to really threaten existing canon. As long as you keep in mind that Jedi aren't actually the wuxia demigods they're portrayed throughout the show, it comes across more like an in-universe fictionalized legend of "oh my god, the Jedi were so powerful back in the Clone Wars, they were flipping and spinning and slicing up droids and it was fucking awesome. Too bad they turned evil and had to be purged, oh well."

I hate to be that guy, but the Plinkett reviews really help illuminate how terrible even the basic narrative structure is.

To compare to Avatar again, while the story was simple and no one could claim it original, it at least functioned.
There was a start, a middle, and an end. Characters grew and changed over it.
It wasn't a groundbreaking plot, but at least it worked.

Can you really say the same about each individual PT movie?
Things were convoluted and so often do you ask "Why is he doing this?"
We, being the nerds who get into the EU, can learn why everyone does what they do, but in the movie alone, is anything really explained?
Like who the fuck was Sifo Dyas?
Who were the Trade Federation and what did they want? What were their motives?

Why did Jango Fett, a bounty hunter, hire another bounty hunter to kill Padme? Who hired Jango and why?

Yoda's reaction is one of the few, if only, genuine emotional moments in the entire prequels.

Also, don't forget the sound design. That's fucking on point during the entire prequel trilogy.

I don't disagree that Plinkett hits a lot of important notes but there's also a lot of nitpickery, misinterpretation, and outright wishful thinking in those reviews as well. Plinkett tends to judge the movies based on what he thinks they should be rather than what they are, and he levels a lot of unnecessary armchair criticism at George personally.

My point is, those reviews have some good stuff in them but at the end of the day they're supposed to be entertaining more than anything. I think, just as prequel fans dismiss them outright, plinkett fans are too quick to hold up everything in his videos as gospel.

I personally still enjoy the prequels. I dont get angry at Jar Jar, or any of it. Maybe I just give them a free pass because Star Wars, but as Christopher Lee and Dave Filoni have previously said, they exist, nobody can change that, just enjoy them for what they are. They're movies, they're made for entertainment, have fun with them.

And if you really, truly cannot enjoy them, just don't watch them, focus on what you like. Star Wars is a big franchise, there's gonna be stuff we love, and stuff we don;t like so much. I honestly believe we benefit greatly from enjoying and discussing what we like, than what we do not like.

I think you guys are going overboard to be honest. There are tons of wonderful things in the prequel movies. Some amazing castings, some great acting (McGregor, Hayden in RotS) some incredible designs, the music, the choreography (for the love of god, dont bother post THAT gif)

There was plenty of perfectly enjoyable scenes and things in the movies, it seems unreasonable to say "THIS ONE THING I LIKED WAS THE ONLY GOOD THING" imo

I think the plan was the have the bugs poison her but then they'd go back to the droid that was still waiting in the window. Outside of McDiarmid and Lee the acting is shit. So many great actors giving the worst performances of their lives.

As for the choreography it was technically good but most of the time it only succeeded at ruining the tone of the fights.

IG-88 needs to be his foil, the cold killer robot who never takes bounties alive and is to Boba what Montross was to Jango. I'd like to have Zuckuss and 4-LOM, but if I can somehow manage it, I'd have Bossk and Dengar as well.

The target, though I'm not sure who it'd be. Someone either the Empire or the Hutts hate enough to hire all these bounty hunters to kill or capture. Maybe a secondary villain from whatever group hired them that's manipulating them for their gain.
>locations
Introduce characters on Nar Shaddaa, clash with target on Bespin, final conflicts in space/station/starship.
>action scenes
I need a GotG-style bounty hunter chase through Nar Shaddaa or Bespin where all the hunters are fighting each other while passing around either the target or a macguffin. 4-LOM and IG-88 need to have a robot fight, and Zuckuss and Bossk need to reenact the gorn fight from Star Trek somehow. And at least one space battle where the Slave I can shine. Gotta have those seismic charges at some point.

Tell me how Heavy Rain or any point and click adventure are supposed to work without good stories. These kind of games are all about the journey. The ONLY reason to play them is the story.
A good shooter like Half Life gave you a reason to get from point A to B with flair and atmosphere. HL2 even managed to make me care about the secondary characters. If your story sucks you got a lifeless techdemo like Doom 3 on your hands.

Also, the closer she gets to the Sith temple, the more the dark side starts to cloud her mind. Eventually she starts having really fucked up force visions from it. Like she's walking through a hallway one minute, and then a vision starts and she finds herself in a village on Shili during some traditional festival. As she walks around, the people around her start acting weird. Faces steadily start becoming contorted, and all in all the situation degrades into concentrated nightmare fuel. The player is helpless in the vision, and eventually starts getting drug towards the center of the festival. The player can't turn her head to see where they are taking her, but the drums are steadily getting more and more intense and the people around her steadily look more and more demonic. And then, just as they reach where they were pulling her, she wakes up, collapsed in the middle of the hallway with the inquisitors very close.

Some games, yeah, the story doesn't matter. Nobody cares about the story in Super Mario Bros. Nobody cares about the story in Codblops.

But then you have games like Republic Commando, or KOTOR, or Planescape: Torment, that would be nothing without their story.

It really all depends. If the story is irrelevant or non-existent, your game will rise or fall purely on the strength of its gameplay.

But since Battlefront is a shooter, it's dealing with a pretty saturated market, and from what we know about the game, it sounds like it's not going to be able to differentiate itself from anything else out there -- not in any positive way, at least. It's just stuck. It's boxed itself into a corner and decided that the Star Wars brand name is all it's going to use to sell.

Skirmishes between the the gang and the Jedi, and a big space battle between Hondo's pirates and Jabba's thugs, which Hondo desperately tries to salvage profit and Aurra's trying to keep his ass from getting killed. And of course showdown between Jango and the Jedi during said battle.

It might have to cut out some of the stuff from the game, maybe cut out some of Jerek's dark Jedi minions all together and reduce the number of places Kyle goes so it can all be done as one film.
Also a short flashback scene to explain Kyle Katarn and Jan Ours's origins.

Plus the Villian's goal is to find the mystical Valley of the Jedi, where the souls of a bunch of Jedi and Sith are trapped.

Sulon, Nar Shadda, Ruusan, and other important places from the original game.

>Major action scenes:
The duels between Kyle and each of Jerek's dark Jedi (or at least the ones that are used in the film) and the final showdown between Kyle and Jerek of course. Plus a kick-ass shoot-out at the start of the film on Nar Shadda between Kyle and that info broker droid's thugs (I forgot his name as well). The opening shoot-out is to establish Kyle as a tough son of a bitch that the audience can take seriously.

Exactly. If the dark side isn't constantly manipulating the player, it isn't being done right. It needs to get to the point that the player is worried about even making a decision, and then not making a decision have its own bad outcome. Like "Spec Ops: The Line" level decisions where no matter what one you make, its the wrong choice, but you have to make the decision anyway.

Decision X will lead to a better outcome in the vision, but what actually happened when you wake up with cause a major hit to her sanity.
Decision Y will lead to a better outcome upon waking up from the vision, but what she sees in the vision will cause a major hit to her sanity as well

For example, Ahsoka has a vision, and sees a little girl being closed in on by a pack of wild animals, and the inquisitors are drawing near.

I have this head-canon that says that Anakin Skywalker was high functioning autistic. Not autistic as in the insult for someone who's awkward or weird that is so often used here on 4chan, but actually autistic as in the mental disorder.

Now I can already here people calling me a retarded ass tumblrite fag, but let me explain my reasoning before everyone flips their shit.

I am high functioning autistic and I know many other people who are high functioning autistic, so I've seen first-hand the way high functioning autistic people behave and I know how they think. Anakin in the prequels fits that bill perfectly. Also I admit that when I first saw the prequels, I was young and in worst, most awkward, and most autistic phase of my life, so I didn't see anything wrong with the way Anakin was portrayed because I related to him.

As I have gotten older, I have learned to be less awkward and I'd assume Anakin did the same, hence his more mature portrayal in The Clone Wars cartoon. But I tend to "regress" to my more awkward and more "autistic" habits when I am extremely stressed or extremely angry, which Anakin is in Episode 3. Anakin probably "regressed" in a similar fashion to myself during Episode 3 due to the extreme stress, rage, and sadness he goes through at that time, hence his more "autistic" behavior during that film.

Now, as I said as I, and other high functioning autistic people I know, learn to be less awkward as they've grown older and had more experience in life, by the time Anakin has fully transitioned Into becoming Darth Vader he's had a lot more life experience than he had during the prequels and he's recognized how awkward he used to be and has tried to distance himself from that time in his life as much as he can.

That's how I see it. It's one of the reasons why I still love watching the original trilogy, even while acknowledging the prequels and their relevance for the story.

Anyway that's my 2 cents, do with it what you will.

I am autistic as well and I never considered that point of view, but I can see what you mean by that. I watched Episode II recently and Anakin definitely does things that are way beyond the social norms, like his advances towards Padme and the way he says things to her that she probably doesn't want to hear. Plus, as much as I agree with the assessment that the romance in Episode 2 is the of the worst written part of that movie, sometimes love isn't logical, sometimes two people just connect, they just click. Now in film there are ways to show this kind of thing and Episode 2 didn't do a good job of doing that at all, but such a thing can happen, it's not common but it can happen. At least that's what I tell myself when I watch Episode 2 so I don't shoot myself.

That scene had significantly better GCI than most. Compare the battle of Utapau with the clones on the battle of Kashyyyk. I think a large part of it is that Utapau has a lot of quick movements and shots, so you're more absorbed in the action and are less likely to be fooled. In scenes like Kashyyyk and pic related, however, it becomes very noticeable when the clones aren't moving just how fake they look.

A lot of people talk about the Machete Order (4, 5, 2, 3, 6), but why has nobody ever suggested the order of 4, 5, 3, 6? That way you skip out on all of the whiny Anakin bullshit and actually get some semblance of Anakin being a good pilot and friend to Obi-Wan. I don't think you miss out on too much story because everything is more or less explained and the rest is left to interpretation.

There isn't as much of a story in Dark Forces alone, it's mostly just Kyle Katarn killing a bunch of stormtroopers and getting from point A to point B with some important intelligence or while sabotaging some Imperial special project. It could probably be done, but I don't know how it would be done.

Plus what I'd really love is a remake or reimagining of both Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight in game form.

I actually hated the voice direction in TFU games. I know it's not the fault of the actors, but every single line of dialogue in those games feels like they are overacting and rushing their lives, especially Starkiller. Even when there is a quiet moment, I still feel like I'm being yelled at.

It got a bit better in TFU2, but it's not saying much. When Witwer was cast has The Son and Darth Maul in the Clone Wars, I then realized it wasn't him has a actor, but his direction. And so far his Sheev in Rebels is pretty good.

She was almost there by the time she left the Order. At least in terms of combat prowess. Mind you, Anakin and the 501st were sent to some of the heaviest battlefronts during the clone war, and Anakin was one of the Jedi's better swordsmen. Like, easily in the top 20. And it seem that unlike Kanan, she didn't let herself go when it came to training.

Honestly, I don't think she actually sought it out seeing as how up until Fire Across The Galaxy no one knew there was a rebellion. I suspect she probably came into contact with Organa at some point (deliberately or otherwise), he helped her stay on the lamb. Then when he started getting this Rebellion ball rolling, he put her to work.

As for Kenobi and Yoda, I think he hasn't told her. She's probably unaware that he was even the last person to have contacted them. And that kinda makes sense. Selective disinformation. Sidious and Vader want her for this reason. I bet Bail is keeping this from her for that exact reason.

Ashoka is a very skilled duelist, she learned from the best. She was able to fight Greivious and Asajj just fine.

Her problem was that she began relying on double lightsabers. That's why Barris wiped the floor with her.

I'm hoping she trained more in her adult years.

She was pretty good with Force Powers too.

I'd hate to bring this topic up but I feel like here would be the best place to talk about it. I understand that people hate the prequels. It's justified. They were crappy movies. But even when some of the greatest stuff stemmed off from the prequels, it still gets so much hate. Like both of the Clone Wars or Battlefront 2. I don't get it. It's not the prequels. The rebellion didn't start up overnight just as the clone wars ended. There clearly had to be a point of when the empire was dicking people. And that had to be at least a few years. The earliest we know of Organa's machinations in regards to rebelling was the events of A New Dawn. And by then it was in the earliest beginning stages. And that takes place, what, four years before Rebels?

So no, the Rebellion was never always there.

Except the time and effort required to make single-player not shit wasn't doable. It's never been the focus of Battlefront games, and even the BF2 single player campaign was tacked on at the last second.
