Toy Story > Ratatouille == Incredibles >= Wall E > Finding Nemo

Wall E had spectacular characterization, but the plot itself was duller than the rest
Finding Nemo is an example of the artistry 3D animated movies can have
The Incredibles is just a solid all around film
Ratatouiile is a personal favorite, but the story is just superb IMO
Toy Story has it all, it's not perfect, but it's close

The Incredibles, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo are all better than this. But Ratatouille is pretty good compared to the rest of the Pixar catalogue.

When restaurants of this sort became popular at the turn of the 20th century, it was popular to sell the image of french cuisine, but the poorer side of the kitchen staff were often italian immigrants, because a lot of people were moving out of italy but not as many were leaving france.

In the movie itself, making Linguine a foreigner helps emphasize his role as an underdog and outsider. Plus, food puns.

As a server who likes their job, I really appreciate the part where Linguine discovers he’s a very talented waiter and much more suited to it than to being a star chef. It’s like the opposite of Princess and the Frog.

It’s kind of a shame to me that that part doesn’t receive much focus and the main focus is on Remy. I wish we could get more movies where waiting is treated as a legit job with its own skillset worthy of excelling in, but usually it’s just depicted as a placeholder until a character can accomplish their “real” dream.
