There are more lesbians than gay men in animation.

When someone at Netflix asked the showrunner for She-Ra why there had to be a rainbow in that one scene, she casually answered "the gay agenda" and that was good enough for them. I think that's funny as hell but I'm sure it'll be the new flashpoint for you guys.

This. They're more palatable. Male gay couples bring forth more disqust by more people, and really serve to drive home that this is destructive, dangerous behaviour.
But with girls its less alarming, and showing boys a lesbian kiss probably brings them to porn at a younger age. Its fetishizing.

Gay women can at least still be looked at in a sexual manner by a male audience if the characters aren't hideous.
