>>105981566they went really wuxia with it, but in a 'none of this makes much sense but they all have wacky powers' way, while the other two were much more grounded martial arts movies (with mystical nonsense, but not on the literal magic kind of way) with actual humor.
also, none of the character arcs were interesting, the father/son plot, while heartfelt, was also rather easily resolved, and the villain didn't have any sympathetic aspects.
it also failed to build on the other two movies in terms of allowing the characters to use their skillsets, nor did it build on their character growth. it spent too much time with new plot elements that were uninteresting, and neglected previous plot elements that were.
also, it simply didn't have good fights. the other movies were smartly choreographed, and felt pretty physical, and relied not on mystical power, but on cleverness and utilizing one's abilities and talents to their utmost - in the spirit of the best kung fu movies.
the third one was a forgettable show brothers sequel of a film, where they purport to have the same characters and so forth, but it feels disjointed from the other films and dudes can suddenly fly and random people come back from beyond and the main dude's developed a signature move that he didn't even have in the previous films.
