>>104776614>Big City Greens just doesn't have enough for people to continue watching it 100% this. After 20 episodes, Gravity Falls had introduced so many recurring characters, settings, and running gags that made the show memorable and beloved beyond the ongoing mystery. And again, this can all be said even when focusing exclusively on the human characters in their small hick town.
Meanwhile, BCG’s aired 20 half-hours, yet I barely remember half of it. For such a Big City, the setting feels so small and limited. Just having the titular Greens, the Remingtons, Gloria, Ms. Cho (sort of), Officer Keys, Chip Whistler, Cricket’s three forgettable friends that showed up in, what, two episodes(?), and Brett really hasn’t done much and fails to prove that the show has lasting potential.
The character design could also benefit from playing around more with shapes and silhouettes. You could argue that BCG and GF basically have the same art style, but at least the latter didn’t make all its background characters look so fucking boring and dull.
If you’re reading this thread, Chris, please take advantage of BCG’s fish-out-of-water premise by maybe emphasizing the scale of the city and its presumably dense population. The show’s already disposable even before Amphibia and The Owl House have premiered.
