>>104442549I get why they would think that way. /mlp/ is very degenerate but a lot of them still supported shit like traditional family values (see: orange horse) and gun ownership (see: /mlk/ threads). The people from the board try really hard to distance themselves from the things that make the rest of the fandom bad, the biggest would be the lack of self awareness when doing something autistic, you can notice that as the board has all kinds of generals for every fetish and fanfic under the sun yet they never leak into each other, people just tend to keep their shit for themselves and go full autismo around those who get it.
Another factor that helped the bound was /mlp/ usually being very friendly towards people from other boards who don't hate them on principle (see: /s4s/ and /d/), even better if they are willing to give their show a chance. In the end it was an osmotic relationship with some folks from /pol/ getting into the show (more show discussion for ponyfags) and some ponyfags getting redpilled.
