My headcanon is that Roman and Neo are the smallest kids on this pic
and they escaped from the farm when everyone got killed.
Neo suffered a trauma when she saw everyone dead and now she can't talk

Because Yang vs Tifa was done when no one (probably not even RT themselves) knew the limits of Aura. Until volume 3, Aura was literally a magical plot armor that was never going to break. Volume 3 showed that Aura is not so limitless as originally seen, as just a few hits can break it. Mercury brought Yang's aura down to 16% with some kicks and projectiles, which should be way less attack power than what Tifa can dish out.

Honestly I figured they were going to do that with Neo scaring Cinder by appearing as Roman, but I figured it would take too much resources to make new models just for one little scene.

Thinking about it that would have been amazing:

Opening scene is pretty much the same, only the person standing on the second floor first appears to be Roman, then the illusion shatters and Neo flanks her from the right like she did.

And frankly she gave the impression to be stomping Cinder for most of this fight too, she basically her on screen feats and dodgy fighting style gives the impression like the most "skilled" fighter in the series, only outclassed due Maiden Powerlevel faggotry and letting Roman do a some gloating instead of finishing Ruby immediately, she also do not have many scenes of complete incompetence, unlike other characters due her fairly minor and voiceless status.

Maidens would be much more bearable if they weren't treated like an I-win button. For all of Cinders jobbing, it's always because she is stupid or doesn't want to get serious. The only proper fight she lost as a maiden was against another maiden.

This series needs some Jackie Chan and JoJo influences. Make clever use of the environment and your semblances beat raw power. Throw magic and that shit at the character and have them come up with creative ways to beat them.

Yeah. Not for RWBY, but his work as a fanartist is what got him hired to do the concept art and character design for gen:LOCK.

I know of two other fanartists who've been hired by RT. Mojo; who was hired to do the concept art for RWBY Chibi, and Kuma; who was commissioned to draw stuff for merch (posters, shirts, cover art for JP releases).

I actually think it might be something mundane like Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Pyrrha beat literally everyone else she faced while holding back.
There are like two people in the series we've seen who could've actually defeated Cinder there, and the fact that Pyrrha managed to stall her there isn't a small feat. Additionally, the best use of her Semblance, i.e. controlling the opponent's gear, was useless there.

I've never thought it was the writers themselves that were the problem, especially Miles. He gave us the Chorus trilogy on RvB, which is the best the writing has been on that show since Reconstruction, so he's a capable writer. I honestly think they're just spending too much time thinking of the plot instead of thinking of the characters, and I think they're rushing themselves. RWBY doesn't need to come out once a year, it should be a "done when its done" thing.

Ruby looks better. Blake looks better because emotive cat ears. Weiss's face in Maya is meh, the rest of her model is good. Yang and Nora's new outfits look worse, though that's not really related to the engine. The girls mostly look fine, it's a lot of the male characters' body proportions that are out of whack in Maya.

The only thing decent was volume 3, and even that's arguable. This volume, with it's contrived drama, bizarre character motivations/behavior, and poor use of a flashback episode, isn't decent. It's the same shit as volume 4 and 5 and a different flavor of shit from 1 and 2.

Maybe I overreacted a little bit but all here can agree that NOBODY expected a jump in quality this high from then, its like they just sold RWBY to another studio with competent people.

I do agree that they could tie things to the main plot better. Raven (And maybe Qrow) and the tribe being involved with the destruction of Ren's village would expand the dynamics at play. Instead their issues are practically solved.

That said I do think he's wrong about the current situation. Their issues with the horror story are probably going to tie back in to the main plot in a number of ways.
