It felt like absolutely nothing else, desu. That whole "this isn't a mudbath. It's an operating table. AND I'M THE SURGEON" was the most cathartic, thrilling line I'd ever read in a comic up 'til then.

and a lot of stuff we take for granted now was actually really edgy and not done to death yet
>robin hadnt been killed and returned a hundred times, so him having been killed in the line of duty was a genuine shock and a sign things had gotten serious

that being said, they need to make a Superman: The Man of Steel Returns. Kingdom Come isn't good enough.

We need a legit Superman: The Man of Steel Returns. Something where Superman comes and reminds the world (and on a meta level, DC) what heroism is really all about. Also, he has a fight where as Clark Kent he BTFOs Batman, by proving he's the more "human" of the two.
