It's stupid and seems like a really contrived reason to get Peter and MJ together at least for
a bit before he died. Gwen cradling his body would have meant just as much considering what they went through with, and because of, each other.
His and Kitty's breakup sucked a lot worse and happened a while before, but the break up with Gwen just seemed cheap and pointless.
